Questions to Ask a Home Inspector

Considerations for picking a Home Inspector:

  • Gain insight on the inspector by visiting their Website
  • Check if they are bonded and insured
  • Review references on Google or Yelp
  • Verify that the inspection company only does inspections – not home repairs, appraisals and/or renovations
  • Find out what the inspection includes and how long it takes
  • Compare the cost of hiring different companies, cheapest isn't the best and neither is the most expensive. Identify their differences!
  • Dies the inspector experienced in the type of home you are looking at
  • Are they a InterNACHI certified inspector
  • Do they inspect the exterior, parkade or other common areas? (if it is a condo)
  • Will the inspector look at the boilers and utility room of the building?
  • How do they inspect the roof?
  • Is there warranty provided with the inspection and what does it cover?
  • Will they use a Thermal Cam to identify Heat loss?
